Can't wait to read the Bruce Sterling collection... I was not crazy about the whole Shaper/Mechanist sequence, but the stuff he wrote since, say, 1997... awesome! Definitely a must buy!
Original anthology series title: NEW MILLENNIUM? or something with MILLENNIUM in it? I think it has a nice ring to it...

I'll be looking forward to this one also - I'm still moderately new to short fiction, but Sterling pushes all the right buttons for me. I assume you'll announce here when we can pre-order?

I doubt there'll be anything in the book you won't have read already, but there's something about reading through from 1980 to 2006 that gives you a different perspective on the stories.

Looking forward to it a lot. And looking forward to reading it from the beginning to the end, without skipping.

Dori Bangs is such atypical Sterling, and so perfect. One of the few stories I cannot read without being emotionally effected. Stands on its own perfectly.

Most of Sterlings stuff works better in context, though. Crystal Express is one of my favourite collections, because apart from one fantasy story I don't like much, the whole thing works perfectly as exporations of the same themes in different directions.
