I was not crazy about the whole Shaper/Mechanist sequence, but the stuff he wrote since, say, 1997... awesome! Definitely a must buy! Original anthology series title: NEW MILLENNIUM? or something with MILLENNIUM in it? I think it has a nice ring to it... One of the few stories I cannot read without being emotionally effected. Stands on its own perfectly. Most of Sterlings stuff works better in context, though. Crystal Express is one of my favourite collections, because apart from one fantasy story I don't like much, the whole thing works perfectly as exporations of the same themes in different directions. Looking forward to it a lot. And looking forward to reading it from the beginning to the end, without skipping.
