The 2008 Locus Awards finalists have been announced, and I’m pretty delighted.  Projects that I’ve worked on feature pretty prominently.

First, The New Space Opera has been shortlisted for Best Anthology, which is terrific.  Second, Dan Simmons’ “Muse of Fire” (novella) and Ken Macleod’s “Who’s Afraid of Wolf 359?” (short story) have also been nominated, which delights me.  Although it’s not only for their work on this book, but New Space Opera cover artist Stephan Martiniere is up for Best Artist and my co-editor Gardner Dozois, is up for Best Editor. I couldn’t be more delighted.

Except…  Peter S. Beagle’s short story “The Last and Only, or, Mr Moskowtiz Becomes French) from Eclipse One has been nominated too!  And, then, The Jack Vance Treasury, which I co-edited with Terry Dowling, is up for Best Collection. I’m really, really pleased to see projects I’ve worked on recognised like this. Many thanks to all of the Locus voters, to Locus, and my sincerest congratulations to the nominees.  Good luck!
