New books news
I have reached an agreement with Charles N. Brown to publish two year’s best anthologies covering science fiction and fantasy published in 2005 under his Locus Press imprint. More information will be available on this shortly, but the contents will differ from those announced for the cancelled iBooks volumes.
Books cancelled
The two anthologies that I co-edited with Karen Haber, Science Fiction: Best of 2005 and Fantasy: Best of 2005, have been cancelled following the closure of publisher iBooks inc.
Eidolon
Eidolon, the anthology that I have co-edited with Jeremy G Byrne, will be launched at the Australian National Science Fiction Convention, Conjure (to be held over the Easter long weekend).
Book delivered
I have delivered Best Short Novels: 2006 to Andrew Wheeler at The SF Book Club for a May/June 2006 publication.

Best of Bruce Sterling
I will edit Ascendancies: The Best of Bruce Sterling for Bill Schafer at Subterranean Press. Publication is expected in late 2006.
Best Short Novels: 2006
I have sold a third volume of the year’s best novellas anthology series, Best Short Novels: 2006, to Andrew Wheeler at the Science Fiction Book Club. It will include about 200,000 words of science fiction and fantasy novellas and is due to be published in June 2006. The sale was made via my agent, Howard Morhaim.
Eidolon I
Jeremy G Byrne and I will co-edit Eidolon I, an all-original speculative fiction anthology for Eidolon Books and Prime Books. The first in a proposed series, it’s expected to debut in the first half of 2006.
The New Space Opera
Gardner Dozois and I have sold original science fiction anthology The New Space Opera to Diana Gill at HarperEos and to Stephanie Smith at HarperCollins Australia in separate deals via agent Howard Morhaim of the Howard Morhaim Literary Agency.
Delivery
I have delivered Best Short Novels: 2005 to the fine folk at the Science Fiction Book Club for a June publication.

Science Fiction: The Best of 2004 and Fantasy: The Best of 2004 are now available from all good book outlets throughout North America.
Electronic books
Science Fiction: The Best of 2004 and Fantasy: The Best of 2004 are now available from Palm Digital.
Best Short Novels: 2005
I have sold a second volume of the year’s best novellas anthology series, Best Short Novels: 2005, to Andrew Wheeler at the Science Fiction Book Club. It will include about 200,000 words of science fiction and fantasy novellas and is due to be published in June 2005. The sale was made via my new agent, Howard Morhaim.
Reading period closed
The reading period for Science Fiction: Best of 2004 and Fantasy: Best of 2004 closed on 1 October 2004.
The Starry Rift
I have sold a new young adult science fiction anthology, tentatively titled The Starry Rift: Tales of New Tomorrows, to Sharyn November at Viking/Penguin.
