Birthday

Well, according to fellow members of the FictionMags mailing list, today is the 80th Anniversary of the day that Amazing Stories first went on sale. The magazine his US newsstands on 10 March 1926 and, at some level, modern science fiction began. I’m almost surprised no-one got a commemorative anthology out.

  1. I’m *almost* surprised that you didn’t put one together yourself, Jonathan :-)

  2. You know, there was probably twenty seconds, one day, when I would have thought it a good idea. Now I’m just running from the whole Roger Elwood thing as hard as I can. Only books I love. This is just too hard and makes too little money to do anything else.

  3. I was joking of course . . . I wholly concur with your criteria of only doing the anthologies you really believe in for themselves, not just as ‘bits of business’. Always better in the long run.
