So, you love Bruce Springsteen. You know you do. And you’ve just heard they’ve announced a second concert for Thursday, 25 October, which is great. But, how do you get from either downtown San Francisco to the Oakland Arena or from the Oakland hills without a car? This is the question. An answer is needed before tickets go on sale on Monday. Springsteen has never toured Australia. There may never be a better chance to see him in concert. How can this dilemma be resolved?
It’s easy. Take the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to the Coliseum Station if you are in San Francisco. If you are coming from the Oakland Hills (from Charlie Brown / Locus HQ?) you can use the West Oakland station.
Well, from the hills would be annoying since you’d have to take a bus (or a bus to a train station), but from downtown San Francisco you’d just hop a BART train and go to the Coliseum. The online trip planner, which includes bus and train routes, is here:

Well, no, not West Oakland, that’s like ten miles from Locus. We usually tell people to go to Rock Ridge BART.
If I can persuade Kevin to go, and we can get tickets, we have plenty of room in the minivan.
Well, tickets go on sale Monday. Let me know what you think….
Mark and Tim – Thanks for the head’s up on transport. I’ve looked into BART, but if all goes to plan will end up going with Cheryl & Kevin, which should be cool.
Sorry just wanted to correct you that Bruce has in fact toured in OZ that last time was 2002! In fact the show in Sydney was legendary as the power kept going off and the band just waited for each time it came back on to start the song off right where they left it… Amazing stuff!
Hey Frank,
I agree. Bruce has toured the Eastern states of Australia – once with the E Streeters, I think, and once on a solo tour. I’ve not checked but that’s my vague recollection. However, he’s not come close to my neck of the woods.
