No promises for better posting, but I will try. Has anyone else noticed a drop-off in the quality of Amazon’s packaging? I received books 5 & 6 of the Zelazny set yesterday, and one was damaged. Life other than that, is sort of good. I’m drowning in dragons, concerned about cyberpunk, and need to get year’s best reading done. But, holidays approach and I’m working on it all. Progress progress.
I did have a good recent family birthday – sister’s partner – and have been garderning (which is weird). Still reading about Hunters & Collectors, and not about SF, but that’s almost ready to change. Always more. Oh, we had mixed health news about Jessica. More tests to follow.
I think that’s the very potted synopsis. More later.
Yes, I have.
I also received vol. 5 & 6 of the Zelazny set in the same box w/ vol. 1 of the Paul Anderson series by NESFA Press and vol. 5 of the Zelazny set is damaged, and was, prior to packaging.
The Box arived undamaged, unlike the box in which vol. 1, 2, 3 & 4 arived…ouch…
I received both of these boxes in Sofia, Bulgaria in the EU…
When I have the money for the Zelazny set, once again. I’m buying direct from NESFA Press. All seven volumes by then.
Amazon’s packaging has been absolute and utter crap for a little over a year now. I can literally count on every other packaging containing something I have to ship back for a replacement. They are forever throwing a book or two in some giant box with a few air filled bags laying in the box that don’t protect anything. So I get books with damaged corners or crushed spots. I have a real love and hate relationship with that company. They certainly don’t have any pride in their work when it comes to shipping.
I got lucky; both V.5 & V.6 arrived undamaged. It had been a while since I’d used Amazon.com [I’m Canadian and use .ca but was forced to use the American site] and was surprised by the new form-factor the packaging used.
I guess I was lucky. I ordered the first four Zelazny books from B&N and 5&6 directly from NESFA. It wasn’t some conscious choice in the case of B&N, I took advantage of a few discount coupons I had (plus they’re slightly cheaper than amazon.com when it comes to shipping to Romania). For the last two volumes, I pre-ordered from NESFA because I couldn’t wait. Definitely, the NESFA package was the sturdiest, from now on I’ll order directly from them every time they have something noteworthy out. In fact, just got the two Del Rey Selected Stories. Same care for the packaging.
