I sometimes struggle a little with the reviews John Clute writes for SciFi.com. As always with Clute, the reviews are well-written and well-considered, but on occasion I find myself wondering what he actually thought about a book. Was it good? Was it not? Should we read it? Well, his most recent review – a discussion of Susanna Clarke’s Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, leaves little doubt, and stands amongst his best for a while. You should check it out.
