I like writers. I do. But honestly, working with them sometimes is a little like the apocryphal attempt to herd felines. I’ve been working on an anthology for over a year now. It’s a big one, possibly the most important I’ve ever done. And I love it. I love the work I’ve been sent, the people I’m working with it. There’s only one thing I don’t love. There’s been an upper limit on story lengths since day one. I was always willing to compromise a little, but gee, some people just cannot keep roughly within a limit. It’s enough to make you want to plotz.
